Guy Kawasaki has been chief evangelist of Canva since April 2014. He is best known for the job he held before it: chief evangelist at Apple from 1983 to 1987, where he marketed the original Macintosh and popularized the word evangelist as a description of the role. Apple later named him an Apple Fellow in 1995.
The distinction matters to what he actually talks about. Evangelism as he defines it is not sales. It is the work of getting people to care about something on its merits, which is a harder problem than persuasion and a different one from advertising, and it is the through line across four decades of his material.
He has written sixteen books. The Macintosh Way arrived in 1990, The Art of the Start in 2004, Enchantment in 2011, The Art of the Start 2.0 in 2015, and Wise Guy: Lessons from a Life in 2019. His most recent, Think Remarkable: 9 Paths to Transform Your Life and Make a Difference, was published in March 2024 and written with Madisun Nuismer, drawing on interviews with more than 200 people including Jane Goodall, Stacey Abrams, and Steve Wozniak.
He created the Remarkable People podcast in December 2019, which supplies much of the raw material for the recent work. Alongside the writing he cofounded Garage Technology Ventures in 1998, founded the online magazine rack Alltop, advised Motorola at Google in 2013, and served on the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees from March 2015 to December 2016.
He holds a BA in psychology from Stanford, awarded in 1976, and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, awarded in 1977. Audiences tend to book him for the Apple stories and leave with the operating advice, which is unusually concrete for a keynote in this category: what to build first, what to cut, and how to tell whether anyone actually wants it.

Guy Kawasaki was chief evangelist at Apple from 1983 to 1987, responsible for marketing the original Macintosh to software developers and the wider market. He popularized the word evangelist as a description of that role, and Apple later named him an Apple Fellow in 1995.
Think Remarkable: 9 Paths to Transform Your Life and Make a Difference was published in March 2024 and written with Madisun Nuismer. It is organized into three sections, Growth, Grit and Grace, and draws on interviews with more than 200 people including Jane Goodall, Stacey Abrams and Steve Wozniak.
Founder and startup audiences, product and marketing teams, and innovation or technology conferences are the strongest fit. The material is operational rather than motivational, covering what to build first, what to cut, and how to tell whether a market actually wants what has been built.
