About Dan

Dan Schawbel runs one of the larger private research operations on how people actually feel about work, and the material he brings to a stage is what those people said.

As managing partner of Workplace Intelligence he has led more than eighty-five studies in partnership with organizations including Oracle, WeWork and American Express, surveying more than three million people across twenty-six countries. The value of that for an audience is specificity: the sessions carry findings on what employees want, what managers believe employees want, and the size of the gap, rather than a general argument about the future.

Back to Human, published in 2018, is the book that gave his work its center. Its argument is that the tools built to connect a workforce have made it lonelier, that isolation is now a performance problem rather than a wellbeing footnote, and that the leaders who will keep their people are the ones who rebuild the human contact the technology stripped out. His earlier books, Me 2.0 and the New York Times bestseller Promote Yourself, were about how an individual builds a career, and the shift from the individual to the organization is the arc of his work.

His Workplace Intelligence Weekly newsletter on LinkedIn has more than four hundred thousand subscribers, and he hosts the 5 Questions podcast, whose guests have included Richard Branson, Condoleezza Rice, Reed Hastings and Matthew McConaughey.

He is booked for HR and future of work conferences, leadership summits and company-wide events where the audience wants to know what the workforce is thinking rather than be told what to do about it. The sessions are keynote format, research-led, and current, since the studies are ongoing and the data in the room is usually months old rather than years.

What is Dan Schawbel's speaking fee?

Dan Schawbel's fee is not published here and is quoted per event. It is driven by event date, location and travel, session length, and whether custom research, a workshop or a Q&A is added to the keynote. Submit an inquiry with your date and audience size for a current quote and availability.

Where does the material come from?

From more than eighty-five research studies run by Workplace Intelligence with partners including Oracle, WeWork and American Express, surveying more than three million people across twenty-six countries. The sessions carry what those people said, including the gap between what employees want and what their managers believe they want.

What is Back to Human about?

That the tools built to connect a workforce have made it lonelier, that isolation is now a performance problem rather than a wellbeing footnote, and that the leaders who keep their people are the ones who rebuild the human contact the technology stripped out. It was published in 2018 and the studies since have kept supporting it.

Can the session use data about our own workforce?

Custom research is an option and is quoted separately. Even without it, the sessions are current, since the studies are ongoing and the data in the room is usually months old rather than years. Tell us whether you want the general picture or your own.
